Nest Activity Log 14/07/2026
(chat on the previous link is not visible, this is since the new stream started)

The black stork chicks were successfully ringed by Urmas Sellis. Upon returning the chicks to the nest, Urmas left a large quantity of fish there. This was done to ensure the chicks had food in case the adult birds delayed their return to the nest after the disturbance. An observer noted that the ending letters on the reading rings for two of the chicks are N and J.

18:28 – 18:29 – Chicks N and J eat the fish left in the nest by Urmas.
18:46 – Chick N eats another fish.
19:29 – 19:31 – Chicks N and J feed on the remaining fish.

Note: All three chicks appear to be in good condition after the ringing. No adult male has arrived at the nest during this observed period.

Discussion Summary & Observations

Parental Flight Paths:
Observations indicate that the female consistently flies into the nest from behind the tree, whereas the male approaches from the side of the camera.

Unidentified Visitor at 18:57:
There was active discussion in the chat regarding a stork landing on a branch at 18:57. The chicks reacted by begging for food. While initially thought to be the male parent, chat participants debated whether it was a stranger (an intruder/foreign stork), as the actual male arrived on the nest shortly after at 19:18. (marika.solo: this individual appears to be the familiar intruder that has visited the nest on multiple previous occasions)

Successful Evening Feedings:
The evening saw back-to-back feedings in quick succession by both parents, with the female delivering an unusually large catch of big fish at 19:24:55.
