description: Probably the appearance of a new dominant male caused the pair that had occupied it for the last 5 days and nights to leave the nest. We don't know what happened off camera or whether the birds fought. However, there are differences in the appearance and behaviour of this individual, who appeared here only a few hours after the disappearance of Notek and Nutka.

NEST

This site of black storks on an oak tree in the Sieraków Forest District has been occupied by birds for over 2X years!

For the safety of breeding grounds, the old dry oak was supported by KOO members in 2020 with a special support.
In January 2022, during hurricane winds, an oak tree with a stork nest fell over, so KOO members made an artificial nest on a neighbouring healthy oak tree, exactly at the same height as the previous one. Since stork nests are large and weigh up to half a ton, we used steel supports and a basket filled with natural material from the old nest.
The new nest is moved 5 m away and next to the trunk of another tree.

The male stork (we are not sure if it is the same individual) has arrived at this nest over the last 5 years as follows:
26.03.2022, 22.03.2023, 20.03.2024. In 2025, the stream started very late (23.06); however, according to information from an ornithologist, two storks were observed on the nest as early as 13.04.

In my opinion, the current visitor to the nest is a transient bird (migrant). In the world of black storks, appearing two weeks earlier than the five-year average (2022–2024) is a significant anomaly. It is far more likely that this is an individual seeking a safe place to rest (a so-called 'pit stop') rather than our regular resident, Notek. We are patiently waiting to see how the situation develops.

Samiec bociana (nie mamy pewności, czy to ten sam osobnik) przylatywał do tego gniazda w ciągu ostatnich 5 lat w następujących terminach:
26.03.2022, 22.03.2023, 20.03.2024. W 2025 roku transmisja ruszyła bardzo późno (23.06), ale według informacji od ornitologa, dwa bociany były widziane na gnieździe już 13.04.

Moim zdaniem obecny gość na gnieździe to ptak przelotny (migrant). W świecie bocianów czarnych pojawienie się o dwa tygodnie wcześniej niż średnia z ostatnich 5 lat (2022-2024) to znacząca anomalia. Bardziej prawdopodobne, że to osobnik szukający bezpiecznego miejsca na odpoczynek (tzw. pit stop), a nie nasz stały rezydent Notek. Cierpliwie czekamy na dalszy rozwój wydarzeń.

Państwo Notek i Nutka w Sierakowie już także na stanowisku. Wiosną #KOO dał nową kamerę i 300 mb nowej skrętki. Niestety nadal jest problem, bo cała linia ma ca 750 metrów i trzeba wstawić jeszcze kolejne 300 mb nowej skrętki. Ale ornitolodzy walczą z tematem i z brakiem $. Zdjęcie pary bocianów metodą digiskopingu z odległości ponad 200 metrów (fot. D. Kujawa).

Notek and Nutka in Sieraków are also back at their nest. In the spring, the KOO installed a new camera and 300 meters of new cable. Unfortunately, there is still a problem because the whole line is about 750 meters long. We need another 300 meters of new cable.
