the autumn birdmap starts with data from August 15
The spring/summer migration stops in mid-August and the autumn/winter migration continues from the following day, the 15th = the bird map is set for autumn/winter migration and the new distance measurement starts from 15.08. However, the birdmap is sometimes ready a week or two later.

in this thread we follow MATS - adult male from the Pärnu County (we follow his 2nd autumn migration with transmitter)

birdmap description:
An adult male, who was reparing the nest and guarding the territory alone. He did not have a mate in 2025.
Mats was caught and equipped with a tracking device in early June. No earlier information about its origin. Mats' territory is quite large, extending from Audru polder in south to Matsalu Bay in north.
In the past, parent birds from the same nest have had difficulties feeding their young (e.g. Madi 2022).
Since Mats had no offspring in 2025, he started migrating early, on July 25. As an experienced migrant, he moved quite directly to the migration stopover in Romania, on the Danube floodplains. Arriving there in August 6. ..... Mats continued its migration in September 21 (2025), reaching fish ponds in Jordan valley by 26th. (stop-over)

Black stork Mats started his migration yesterday and arrived in Latvia. Today, no GPS transmitter points were received from him.

Mats did not find a mate this year and flew around a fairly large area. He regularly visited 3 nests and also showed one previously unknown nest.
