Yesterday Kerli finally found the fish basket, and now he has to guard it so that no one eats the fish inside.

Hello everyone :-)

CHICKS 🐥
- 1st chick: 15 days old (hatched on 14.06)

EGGS
🥚🥚unhatched (laid on 13.05 at 22:22 and 16.05 at 02:05)

Stork chicks grow exponentially. 90 days in the nest is like 18-21 years for humans. This means that 1 day in the nest is like almost 3 months for a human child. That is why their transformation is so amazing and fast.

YouTube comments do not reflect all nest events throughout the day, including chick feedings; therefore, the log is unfortunately incomplete.

🕒 Timeline of Events

Kergu on guard 07:58
Kergu is spotted sitting on the perch for a long time, waiting for Kerli's return.

Chick left alone & Kergu brings moss 09:49
After a long wait with an empty stomach, Kergu leaves the nest briefly. The chick is left alone until 09:51 when Kergu returns bringing fresh moss.

Kerli's arrival & Feeding 09:55
Kerli finally arrives at the nest. She delivers a small breakfast consisting of two servings of frogs.

Chick in shade & PS 12:20
As the day warms up, the chick seeks shade. At 13:22, observers note a good PS, after which the chick stays just outside the nest bowl.

Nest Relief (Kergu in, Kerli off) 14:39
Parent rotation: Kergu returns to the nest to take over guarding duties, and Kerli takes off (presumably heading back to the fish basket).

Major Feeding by Kergu 14:40
Kergu delivers a massive meal. The chick consumes a huge amount of fish, completely filling its crop ("fed to her throat").

📝 Key Observations & Notes

Chick Development:
The late singleton is full of energy. Observers noted that the chick even made a strong/angry defensive sound (kurja häält) today for the first time.

Parental Care:
Kerli's morning delivery of frogs was quite small, leaving the chick visibly hungry until Kergu's afternoon arrival. Kergu earned the title of "father of the year" from the chat community today after stuffing the chick's crop completely full of fish.
