Short history of previous seasons

NEST HISTORY

The online broadcast from the black stork nest (Ciconia nigra) is the result of a collaboration between the KOO (Eagle Conservation Committee) and the Wolsztyn Forest District. The camera was installed at the nest on March 7, 2026, by KOO members.

The nest is located within the Wolsztyn Forest District on a 150-year-old pine tree with a very diverse crown structure (a biocenotic tree). This particular nest has been occupied for several years; previously, the birds nested a few hundred meters away, but after their former nest collapsed, they chose this specific tree on their own.

Nesting History:

2023 & 2024: The pair successfully raised 3 chicks each year.

2025: The birds suffered a loss (the brood was unsuccessful).


LOCATION & RESIDENTS

This site is located 13 km away from the nest in the oak tree (nest of Titan and Titania), making it a separate black stork breeding territory within the Wolsztyn Forest District.

Przekaz online z gniazda bociana czarnego Ciconia nigra to efekt współpracy KOO z Nadleśnictwem Wolsztyn. Kamera została umieszczona przy gnieździe 7 marca 2026 przez członków KOO. Gniazdo znajduje się w Nadleśnictwie Wolsztyn na 150-letniej sośnie o bardzo urozmaiconym pokroju korony (drzewo biocenotyczne). To gniazdo jest zajmowane od kilku lat, wcześniej ptaki gnieździły się kilkaset metrów dalej, ale po upadku dawnego gniazda wybrały samodzielnie właśnie to drzewo. W 2023 i 2024 roku w gnieździe były po 3 młode. W 2025 roku paki miały stratę. W 2026 roku od początku kwietnia na gnieździe pojawia się pojedynczy osobnik, prawdopodobnie samiec Chodek. Ponieważ jest jeszcze zimno, część bocianów dopiero dolatuje z zimowisk. To stanowisko jest oddalone od gniazda na dębie o 13 km, więc jest to odrębny rewir lęgowy bocianów czarnych w Nadleśnictwie Wolsztyn.

1/ Z Wolsztynem na dębie nie mamy kontaktu z kamerą, zobaczymy jeszcze w trakcie sezonu, ale to > 300 km więc nie szybko będzie.
2/ Z Wolsztynem na sośnie mamy kontakt, ale tam siada 1 ptak raz na kilka dni, więc nie wiem czy jest sens pokazywać online puste gniazdo.

1/ We’ve lost contact with the camera on the oak tree in Wolsztyn. We’ll see what happens during the season, but since it’s over 300 km away, it won’t be fixed anytime soon.

2/ We still have a connection with the nest on the pine tree in Wolsztyn, but a bird only lands there once every few days. I’m not sure if it makes sense to keep streaming an empty nest online."
