Our experienced black stork Kergu has been resting near Ergili for a few days. Now, the weather is changing, and we might see some action today or tomorrow.
What to expect for Kergu:
- Today (Thursday): The sky is cloudy with a light wind from the North-East. This wind is very calm, which is good for crossing the sea. If the sun comes out this afternoon, Kergu might decide to start his journey towards Tekirdağ using the islands in the Marmara Sea.
- Tomorrow (Friday): It will be much warmer (17°C) and sunnier. This is perfect for "thermal" air currents, making it easier for him to glide and save energy. However, the wind will be stronger.
Comparison with Janis:
Yesterday, the new stork Janis successfully crossed the Dardanelles. While Janis took the safer land route, Kergu is a "veteran." We know from past years that Kergu prefers the shorter but more difficult route across the islands.
