friday (march 20): strong north-easterly winds (approx. 30–45 km/h) are expected in the dardanelles and çanakkale area. this serves as a significant headwind for storks travelling north, which likely causes them to wait on the mainland. partly cloudy, no significant precipitation.

saturday (march 21): winds should slightly decrease but will still blow from the north-east. temperatures around 12–14°c. thermal conditions (updrafts) will remain less than ideal over the sea due to the steady wind.

sunday (march 22): forecasts suggest a gradual calming of the wind. this could provide a better window for a safe crossing over the water into europe.
