Birdmap Migration Update - 24.01
- ARVO has been enjoying the marshlands and rice fields of the Camargue (France) since 28 September.
- IKSI arrived in the area of the Messolonghi Lagoons National Park on 6 November and has been exploring the surrounding fields. Iksi moved on 1 January to the east, but our stork is still in the area of the Gulf of Patras
- JANIS, our adult bird, remains on the western shore of the Gulf of Iskenderun (Turkey) since 2 October.

TOOTSI (birdmap info)
... his migration route ended in northern Germany on September 10. The tracker data showed that Tootsi landed near Greifswald and did not fly again. He walked along the bank of the ditch for a few hours and finally died there. ... Tootsi's body was taken to the Rostock research laboratory, where an autopsy did not identify the shooting, but an attack by a larger bird of prey. The bird of prey was probably an white-tailed eagle, from whose claws Tootsi escaped, but had to give up his life.

It is situated on the right bank of the river Evinos, about 10 km north of its outflow into the Ionian Sea. The community includes the village Nea Kalydona. Near Evinochori are the ruins of ancient Calydon, one of the most famous ancient cities in Aetolia. (wiki)
