The Wengimoos is a peat-cutting landscape (a fen of national importance) with many small ponds and a rich variety of fauna and flora, and it is under nature conservation. It is a relic from the last Ice Age and, as a wetland, forms a remnant of a once large moorland area in the Limpach Valley.
The descendants of Louis Gasser, owner of the Rapperswil brickworks, sold 4 hectares of land to Ala, and thus the area also bears the additional name "Louis Gasser Reserve."
