Previous data: 22.10.21. Distance 4555 km. Near Leimonas, Laconia municipality, Greece.
New data: 23.10.21. Distance 4791 km(+236 km) Palaiochora, Crete Island, Greece.

Last location for UDU is from Crete, but Udu is still in flight- above the sea. It is possible that Udu is only circling around to gain height. He/She might continue to open sea or return to the island..
Udu was flying smart- he used the middle islands Kithira and Antikythira as guiding and safe land points. Probably for gaining altitude.

Udu is still on Crete! That is a good news! A juvenile black stork from Makov rescue center, Czech Republic named Blue, is also on Crete already from October 8. If Udu decides to stay, hopefully they keep each other company ;)

We have new updates!!

KARL II- after 6 days of silence, distance 6464 km. Karl is in SUDAN.
UDU- after 3 days, distance 5983 km. Udu crossed the Mediterranean and is in EGYPT!
EEDI- 5989 km. Same area in Saudi Arabia.

After a week of waiting we finally meet Karl II again and he has made some serious progress! :)
Karl is currently in Sudan, flew past the Merowe reservoir/dam.
EDIT Marika-Solo: Karl flies above the Bayuda desert - Bayuda volcanic fields.

Here is Karl's journey divided into night resting areas and also a comparison of Karl's last year's route to his wintering place.

UDU successfully crossed the Mediterranean Sea! Luckily he had very favourable conditions. Currently he is about 50 km away from the nearest water and food source- the Farafra Oasis. Hopefully he finds this place for a good rest and regaining energy..
