Waba found the next pond

Waba moved on 01.08 not far to the north. Our stork crossed the Dnister river (in this area - see photo) and after exploring some ponds stayed for night resting near Kucha in one of the ponds/reservoirs on a river in the valley to the north of the village.

Waba is exploring the area around. Today he visited some ponds and lot of time our stork spent in this valley along the stream (to the west from the village Vasylivka/Василівка).

Waba moved until 16.08. in a smaller greater distance around the village of Serbychany. He also flew to the Dnister river (and also crossed it), visited various ponds/reservoirs and rivers/streams. He usually spent the night in the trees at the edge of the forest.

Waba on 18.08 moved to the north (!) and reached Buivolivtsi/Буйволівці (Khmelnytskyi Raion of Khmelnytskyi Oblast) - there are more ponds. On 19.08 some next km to the NW (Chabany/Чабани), 20.08 next "station" Kachuryntsi/Качуринці (again +/- 50 km further). It is approx. 200 km to the north from the previous area around Serbychany.

There is he foraging in the Bovenets' River and marshland south of the nearby Petrykivtsi/Петриківці. On 26.08 Waba is checking the nearby area and on 27.08 is his localisation again a little further to the NW near the village Porokhnya/Порохня.





Zhabokrych stream/Жабокрич (Bovanets tributary)
At the moment, the river source is dry due to overgrowth and littering of the source area. Downstream, the river flows into a small pond in the village of Viytivtsi, which is currently completely overgrown with willow, creating a convenient habitat for snakes, hares and various bird species.
