12.08 Karl preens the kids. #3 is hungry- it is biting moss and chirping. Karl covers the chicks.

12.34 The chicks have been chirping for a long time under Karl. I think it's the hungry #3.

Maybe Karl gave away his last fish before and now has nothing to offer? Let's wait for Kaia.

12.40 #3 is very hungry- it begs for food. He climbs to the nest edge, but Karl only arranges the moss and covers the chicks again.

13.15 Karl sees someone- he starts looking around and whistling. A stranger??


Karl takes a short break to look around.
13.16 He starts calling again.
13.18 He looks around in silence.


13.19 Karl covers the chicks.

13.35 #3 is begging food again under Karl's belly. Karl stands up. #3 moves around the nest, looking for a place for feeding..it bites the older siblings and Karl's toes. The bigger siblings re calm. Karl stands over the chicks and looks at them. And that's all, Karl covers the chicks. No feeding.

14.13 Karl tries to regurgitate fgood, but it doesn't work. #3 is trying to eat moss.


14.15 FEEDING (6) Karl still manages to regurgitate a small pece of food. At the beginning #3 is facing the wrong way! Then turns around and also gets a few bites, but by then the bigger ones also got the most of the food. in the end, all eat..a little.

14.20 A heavy rain shower arrives.

14.42 Karl stands for a moment to adjust his position. The nest and the chicks are dry and warm.


15.08 The rain is over and Kaia arrives! Karl leaves immediately.
Karl's nest duty was 5 h 35 min.


15.10 FEEDING (7) Kaia regurgitates a pile of small fish. All eat! #3 also manages to swallow several big pieces, including a bigger fish, it's tail os sticking out from #3's mouth

15.57 Kaia takes a small break to take care of the nest and the chick. Everyone goes into feeding positions, but Kaia doesn't feed this time. Everyone is still full and happy.

16.33 Nap time for the chicks and some self care time for mommy


After that, Kaia wakes up the kids and guides them for a feeding.

16.38 FEEDING (8) A big pile of food! All eat! And these little necks are thick now!

17.00 Heavy rain again..but the lighting and the ambience is so mystical, like in an enchanted forest.


17.35 A little break for Kaia and the chicks. #3's neck is still thick from the last feeding! He's not hungry. But Kaia is totally wet..and she makes a PS(good)


Kaia stands over the chicks for several minutes, like a true "mombrella" and then decides to feed the kids!

17.46 FEEDING (9) #1 and #2 eat. #3 is sleeping behind them ( not hungry)


Kaia covers the chicks.

18.29 Next small break. The chicks are not interested in begging for food. Everyone wants to sleep.

19.02 Karl II arrives! He is also wet from the rain. Kaia greets him and leaves immediately.
Kaia's nest duty was 3 h 54 min.


Karl checks on the kids and offers them food.
19.05 FEEDING (10) Karl regurgitates a big pile. #1 and #2 get a head start. #3, who was behind the bigger ones at first, manages to get to the table and grab a few bites. All eat and everyone is full!

19.47 Small break- Karl makes a PS, checks at the kids and covers them again.
