The strange hook was attached to Kaia still at night. It also seems to me that there could be a piece of fishing line in her mouth..as she aerates the nest and opens her bill slightly, I can see something shining in her mouth...

04.57 Chick are active and begging, Kaia doesn't offer anything.

05.17 Karl arrives! Kaia greets him shortly and leaves. The chicks are begging again.
Kaia's nest duty was 9 h 41 min.

05.18 FEEDING . Karl offers small fish. One chick manages to get a few fish. The other chick battles with a fish but doesn't manage to swallow it.

05.59 Karl regurgitates, at first nothing, but then there's a few second gap in the stream and suddenly there's one bigger fish on the nest floor. Too far from the chicks though..




Karl aerates the nest and sits down again.

06.14 Karl rolls the eggs. Nothing more.

06.50 FEEDING (2) after several minutes of regurgitating attempts, Karl finally manages to get that fish out. It's now soft and both chick get a good meal!







Karl eats back a tiny piece.
But I'm afraid that was the only thing left in Karl's crop..

07.07 Karl rolls the eggs.
07.44 I see pips in both eggs. One egg has already multiple small holes in it from before. Karl tries to regurgitate several times, he has nothing to offer. At last he gets that tiny piece out leftovers out from the last feeding, but the chicks had settled to sleep already.


07.57 Aerating the nest.
08.58 Karl reguritates..nothing. He aerates the nest. The chicks are chirping and begging.

09.28 Kaia comes home!
Karl's nest duty was 4 h 11 min.


09.29 FEEDING (3) Kaia offers lots of food! Both chicks eat well!

BTW...Kaia arrived to the nest without the hook!
