The Tsalapitsa rice fields are located in the Upper Thracian lowland between the village of the same name and the town of Saedinenie. Their territory is divided into two by the road connecting the two settlements. To the south, the paddy fields border the highway "Trakia", to the east - the railway. the Plovdiv-Saedinenie line. The western border coincides with the municipal border, and the northern one passes a few kilometers south of the town of Saedinenie. It is a complex of watered areas used for rice production, surrounded by low dikes and canals and moist meadows located in their immediate vicinity. In places, the canals are overgrown with common reed (Phragfmites australis) and bulrush/reedmace (Typha sp.). The rice paddies have different water levels and create habitat for very narrowly specialized feeding bird species.
