A project to monitor and protect the Black Stork (Ciconia nigra) was launched in 2012 within the "Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane" Regional Park. (https://cicognaparcogallipoli.it/#)
A fundamental part of the project concerns the placement of a special camera near two nests. The first nest, now considered "historic" because it has been used successfully by a couple for years, is in the Castelmezzano area and the second is in the Oliveto Lucano area.
