Desert and agricultural use? Yes, we see watered fields on the map (both circular and classic). It is not water from the Nile, it is groundwater. (I don't want to comment on this situation, I want our site to be apolitical. edit: if you are interested - read e.g. here https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2019 ... ify%20wall)

When zooming the map to the maximum, various points of interest will appear and then it is enough to "just" search further for answers to the questions that occur ;)

http://www.jenaan.com :

Jenaan Investment LLC is a private company with its head office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. We invest in the Agricultural value chain with the goal to contribute to Food Security for the UAE. We have a long term contract with the Abu Dhabi Government to supply hay and forage for husbandry farmers in Abu Dhabi. Through various partnerships in host countries, Jenaan has its own farm operations to supplement imported hay and forage. Jenaan is forwards and backwards integrated in the Agricultural value chain.

Amtaar Investment is a Joint Venture between Jenaan and the Sudanese government. Amtaar has an administrative office in Khartoum and an irrigation farm at Al Dabbah in the Northern region, 340km north of Khartoum in the Sahara desert.
The farm was established on an ancient floodplain of the Nile River in the desert. It consists of 6 000 ha under irrigation where it produces Rhodes grass, Sudan grass, Alfalfa and Corn. Overall, the project consist of 10 000 ha of land in which the remaining 4 000 is distributed to other parts of Sudan. Water is pumped from the Nubian aquifer, the largest underground water resource in the world through wells into an innovative irrigation system, called Floppy Sprinkler. Amtaar produces 230 000 ton of dry forage on an annual basis for export to the UAE. The product is containerized and shipped through Port of Sudan on a weekly basis.

details on the webpage or e.g. in this short VIDEO (5 min.) - English tittles; to me very much new information (with nice/good view on that area, also with white storks on the fields and above them; I am not sure if there are black storks too - see min. 5:21)
