Season 2024 viewtopic.php?f=119&t=192
description: Probably the appearance of a new dominant male caused the pair that had occupied it for the last 5 days and nights to leave the nest. We don't know what happened off camera or whether the birds fought. However, there are differences in the appearance and behaviour of this individual, who appeared here only a few hours after the disappearance of Notek and Nutka.
Season 2023 viewtopic.php?p=11287#p11287
description: A new pair was formed and started breeding with a month's delay. Four chicks appeared in the nest. About three weeks apart, all of them were kidnapped by a hawk: the first one on the 20th day of life, the last "Okruszek" on the 36th day of life.
Season 2022 viewtopic.php?f=76&t=112
description: the nest was occupied and defended by at least one male throughout the whole season from March to August

NEST
This site of black storks on an oak tree in the Sieraków Forest District has been occupied by birds for over 2X years!
For the safety of breeding grounds, the old dry oak was supported by KOO members in 2020 with a special support.
In January 2022, during hurricane winds, an oak tree with a stork nest fell over, so KOO members made an artificial nest on a neighbouring healthy oak tree, exactly at the same height as the previous one. Since stork nests are large and weigh up to half a ton, we used steel supports and a basket filled with natural material from an old stork nest.
The new nest is moved 5 m away and next to the trunk of another tree.

Re: Notecka Forest (Notek and Nutka)
The male stork (we are not sure if the same individual) arrived to this nest in last 5 years:
26.03.2022, 22.03.2023, 20.03.2024, 2025: streaming started very late (23.06; information from ornithologist: 13.04 two stork observed on the nest)
2026: to me it is most likely possible transient/migrator(?)
In the world of black storks, arriving two weeks earlier than the 5-year average is a significant anomaly. This might be a "pit stop" bird who are looking for a safe place to rest rather than "our" resident Notek.

Re: Notecka Forest (Notek and Nutka)
AI suggested:
What to watch for tomorrow (March 9):
- Nest Work:
If the bird starts bringing in heavy branches and moss immediately, it’s likely a resident claiming territory.
- Feeding vs. Staying:
If the bird spends most of the time sleeping or preening and then leaves after a few hours, it’s a traveler using the nest as a "hotel."
