Hello everyone :-)

Previous data
- 09.11, Distance: 3725 km (+ 18 km)
- Greece: Messolonghi lagoons
(Municipal Community of Neochori, Mesolonghi. A local administrative area within the city of Mesolonghi)

NEW data
- 10.11, Distance: 3729 km (+ 4 km)
- Greece: Katochi (Greek: Κατοχή) - a village and a community in the municipal unit of Oiniades in Aetolia-Acarnania
(West Greece)

As I expected (weather forecast), Iksi moved only few and returned to one of the trees on the bank of the Acheolus River to spend the night.

Iksi explored the area of the Messolonghi lagoons :
- Ramsar Site https://rsis.ramsar.org/ris/62,
- IBA KBA area https://datazone.birdlife.org/site/fact ... os-estuary
- Natura 2000 area https://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/Natura ... release=55

National Park Of The Messolonghi – Aitoliko Lagoon
"The National Park of the Messolonghi – Aitoliko Lagoon, downstream of the rivers Evinos and Acheloos and the islands of Echinades” (for short the National Park of the Messolonghi Lagoon), is located at the south-western tip of Central Greece, where the Patraikos Gulf meets the Ionian Sea and the rivers Evinos and Acheloos flow out. It is one of the richest wetlands in Europe, both in number of species and in abundance. This extensive deltaic ecosystem is covered by the Ramsar Convention and is included in the Natura 2000 network as a Special Conservation Area and a Special Protection Area for birds."

Iksi moves between his roost (the trees on the banks of the Acheloos River) and the fields to the north. Our stork flies along the Ancient Oeniades Theater.

https://www.sailinhistory.eu/blog/ancient-oiniades:
Ancient Oiniades (Ancient Greek: Οἰνιάδαι) was a port town on the west bank of the river Achelous
The city was found on the delta of the Acheloos River, with the sea on its south and the lake at its north. It had two harbours, which are interred today. What remains from those impressive structures are the dockyards carved on the rocks.

B/ The Oeniadae theater photo https://diazoma.gr/site-assets/OINIADWN-3.jpg

https://elliniko-panorama.gr/en/ancient ... t-theatre/:
Within the fortification were the public buildings of the ancient Agora (parliament building, stoa, ‘building with houses’, temple, Heroon), the so-called ‘Building on the Hill’, the bath of the late Hellenistic period and the theatre, which are still visible today. Outside the walls, graves from the eastern cemetery of the city have been excavated.

A unique monument of the area and one of the most imposing of antiquity, due to their very good preservation, are the neosikoi or neoria. They were used for the retrieval of ships inside them, in order to repair them or to keep them for a certain period of the winter. The neosikoi are located at the south-western end of the harbour fortifications.
