10.26 FEEDING (5) Big fish from Karl. #1 and #2 eat and swallow big fish. #3 gets nothing.
Older chicks with stuffed throats, #3 can't get anything this turn.


Karl preens his chicks, #3 is still chirping.

The weather has gotten very nice this week, the chicks don't need so much covering anymore. They can spend already hours just sleeping and being out from cover.

12.32 FEEDING (6) The most silent eating I've seen #1 and #2 are not interested in food at all- they are still stuffed from the last feeding. #3 eats three soft fish! at the end of the feeding, bigger onest peck something, one of them swallows a smaller fish..

15.35 Little #3 makes a nice PS too

15.36 FEEDING (7) Karl offers the leftover soft fish. All eat, but #3 isn't able to chug down such big pieces as the older ones. (The older ones swallowed much more and bigger food at that age). #3 ate a little less, but I think it's still enough.

15.45 KAIA arrives with such speed that she isn't able to pull the breaks at the right time and steps on the kids. The older chick growls Karl immediately leaves.
Karl's nest duty was 5 h 4 min.

15.53 One of the older siblings walked backwards and made a PS away from the nest bowl!


Kaia keeps occasionally poking and preening the kids. Maybe she is trying to call them for feeding. But the little ones are so relaxed and sleeping

18.09 KARL. Kaia gives him a long greeting. Kaia still preens the chicks and doesn't want to leave. She is telling something to Karl...
Kaia's nest duty was 2 h 24 min.


18.25 Chicks wake up from sleep and start twittering. Karl steps nearer to them, but Kaia starts to whistle to Karl..what is she saying?


18.26 Kaia leaves.
Both were together in the nest for 17 minutes.

The whole time that Kaia was in the nest, none of the chicks were hungry and there were no feedings. Only very calmly sleeping the whole time

They are still not asking food from Karl.

18.31 Kaia brings fresh moss...I think she was telling Karl earlier to bring moss, but when she understood that Karl doesn't feel like working today, she brought it herself.

I think Kaia keeps telling Karl to go somewhere or do something..she keeps talking to him.
18.33 Finally Karl leaves.

18.35 The kids are ready to eat now, they are twittering on the edge of the nest bowl, and Kaia is getting ready to feed them, but then she suddenly stops. Sle looks around.

18.37 Karl brings moss! What an obidient husband


Kaia is talking something again. Little chick is angry too! What a growl...

19.05 Karl goes to check on the kids..Kaia comes up to the nest and starts to whistle again something to Karl..


Very interesting. As soon as Karl wants to preen the chicks, Kaia goes to him as if she doesn't want to let Karl near them right now.
Both spend a long time preening themselves, chicks are sleeping.

19.24 FEEDING (8) Karl offers a lot of soft fish. All eat good. A very clever tacktics from Karl. At first he regurgitates a smaller pile, #1 and #2 already quickly grab some mouthfuls and are busy with chugging down the food. Then Karl releases a second pile, and #3 has more time and opportunity to take food from there.

20.16 The neck of #3 it's full!


Thye chicks are already calmly sleeping again.

20.29 KAIA comes to take over the night shift. Karl flies away immediately.
Karl's nest duty was 1 h 12 min.


Nobody is interested in eating.

21.21 #3 is chirping, Kaia covers the chicks.

Already multiple times the bigger chicks walk backwards and make a PS out from the nest bowl. New step in development.
