F stand up at 09.13, settled down at 09 23

Image

- it seems to me, she is observing the two little ones, or only No5 (?!)
- No5 seems to me frozen
- F takes care of her offspring
- 09.20 they again cuddle to each other and are twittering all the time

- it is hard to catch something when the water level in streams and creeks are high, when the water is mud and it is hard to fly with very wet wings (and dangerous - collisions easily occur)

09.32 only bird are singing, F is resting/sleeping - some times we see the "third eyelid"
resting female (09.36.59)

Birds have two eyelids, upper and lower. Birds active during daytime hours raise the lower lid when closing their eye, and nocturnal birds close the upper lid. But birds also have a translucent nictitating membrane, sometimes called a “third eyelid”. Nictitating, for all its alliterative syllables, simply means “blinking”. This extra eyelid is hinged at the inner side of the eye and sweeps horizontally across the cornea. The nictitating membrane is largely transparent, and it helps keep the eye moist and clean while guarding it from wind, dust, and hazards.

10.17 F stand up,
- she is observing No5 again - little one is frozen; she also touched his head in that characteristic way
- F takes care of the chicks
10.31 she covered the storklets

the weather is set to remain rainy in the area on Thursday, bad news for hunting that day (and a threat to the youngest/smallest chick)

I'm afraid of the little one :( . I don't know if it's good to freeze like this. It would be better if he moved more (I think). To keep Jan back!
