+++ BREAKING STORK-NEWS +++
Welcome LUDGER and LINA!
As of now, these are the names of the two now internationally known fledglings from the mixed pair of a Black and White Stork in Lüder, Lower Saxony, Germany. The sex could now be clarified on the basis of analyses: the larger, darker young bird is a male and is now called Ludger (derived from the name Lüder, the birthplace of the young birds), the younger sister is called Lina. In the coming days both will leave the nest!

Das Wetter in Norddeutschland ist schlecht. Es gibt viel Regen und Wind. Obwohl Ludger schon fleißig übt, hat er seinen ersten Flug noch nicht gewagt. Lina hat - soweit ich das gesehen habe - noch nicht richtig mit ihren Flugübungen begonnen.
Gestern hat Heinrich gefüttert und Isis sah ich in der Nähe des Horstes am Himmel kreisen.
Hoffentlich wird das Wetter bald etwas besser und sie können in die Endrunde gehen.
Ich werde nächsten Freitag wieder nach ihnen schauen und bin sehr gespannt, ob Ludger noch auf dem Nest sitzt ...

Ich kann erst Freitag wieder nach Lüder fahren - aber die Sehnsucht ist schon so groß - deshalb ein kleiner Lichtblick!

++++ Update Storks Lüder ++++
Ludger ist flying!! At 10.13 AM he started his very first flight ever!
Ludger ist ausgeflogen, heite Vormittag um 10.13 Uhr startete er seinen ersten Flug. Zur Überraschung war sofort die Schwarzstörchin da und begleitete ihn sogar kurz.
