20.04 Karl is aerating the nest, loud egg talk! The chicks start begging, but Karl doesn't feed this time.
20.26 Karl aerates again. Egg is talking. No feeding.
20.36 Karl takes care of the eggs.
20.41 Karl takes care of the eggs. The chicks start begging for food, but no feeding this time.

21.00 The weather suddenly turns for the worst..it started raining and it's suddenly very dark outside.

It was raining quite heavily all night.


04.22 The chicks are already hungry and start begging under Karl's belly.
04.45 Karl stands to make a PS and aerate the est. No feeding yet.

05.41 Kaia arrives! They greet eachother and Karl immediately leaves. Kaia takes care of the eggs.
Karl's nest duty was 10 h 58 min.


Kaia takes care of the eggs. The chicks are begging loudly and get ready to feeding position.

05.43 FEEDING (1) Kaia regurgitates a small piece of food, it is badly placed, so that only one chick gets more bites, the other one is stuck behind the eggs. Finally the second chick manages to get a few small bites.




EGG TALK heard loudly while feeding.

06.05 Moss



06.32 Kaia switches her position. Chicks are begging again, but Kaia doesn't feed yet. The newly brought moss is blocking the view..


07.16 Kaia stands to switch position. Two chicks plus loud egg talk!

07.49 FEEDING (2) Kaia regurgitates a very small piece of leftovers. Both chicks get a few tiny bites. Clearly not enough..


07.50 Just as Kaia is about to cover the eggs and the chicks, a loud cracking sound comes from the nest bowl...did the egg bread in half? Nothing to see, only hear.

09.05 Kaia stands up and the chicks are hungry again. They beg for food on the edge of the nest bowl, but Kaia doesn't feed, she covers the chicks.

09.10 Karl arrives! Kaia doesn't want to stand up.
09.14 Kaia stands up and moves the moss that blocks the view- we can see again.
NO- she moves it back in front of the view again
Kaia seems very hesitant to leave the nest. Karl is waiting patiently and preening himself.

09.15 FEEDING (3) Kaia regurgitates some food- one chick gets a few bites. Nothing much to see. One eats behind the moss and the other is facing the wrong way.


Kaia eats a few pieces back..but it's really nothing.

09.16 Karl steps in and looks at the chicks. Kaia is still hesitant to leave.


09.17 Kaia decides to go back to the chicks and cover them. Karl works with the twigs a little.

09.19 Karl leaves.

Karl brings more materials.

He stays in the nest for preening.
