08.02 Karl comes home! Kaia greets him. I think she's telling him that it's time for the first chick's arrival ;) Kaia waits a few moments before standing up. After standing, she continues to talk with Karl. Her tail feathers are wet and her belly is already dirty.
Kaia's incubation shift was 17 h 30 min.

08.04 Karl II continues incubation.

I think that this change of incubation turns was strategically planned- Kaia in the nest at night, leaving the hatching process to Karl...

Quoting Marika's post:
"The young mostly hatch through the male during the hatching, as only the female is able to give the young small portions of the possibly large prey pieces in the first few hours after hatching. Therefore, the female goes in search of food during the hatching phase, in order to then carry out the first feedings herself."

Wolf, Magdeburg)

09.00 As Karl aerates the nest and rolls the eggs very quickly, I think there's egg talk again ( I'm still not 100% sure)
After sitting down, Karl is very restless, twitching as if he hears something or can't find a good position.
09.03 He stands up again and aerates again.
He seems very restless again. Is he excited already?
09.04 Up again and aerating very quickly, sits down.
09.06 Repeating the above.

...

10.19 Karl can't sit still, he keeps twitching and wiggling from side to side...

10.20 A raven is nearby..

10.22 Karl is restless again, he stands up for a short aerating. At the moment I can't hear talking.

...

11.04 After taking care of the eggs and sitting down, Karl is twitching again. He just can't relax!
