15.15 - 15.19 - Jan refuted several times and devoured a bigger fish, and tried to cut it into smaller pieces, but he didn't succeed. She's probably still tough. :(
The PIP is visible on the fourth egg: :D

15.33 - Jan again refuted and devoured a bigger fish.

16.33 - Jan refuted the fish several times. The two chicks tried to catch the fish, but it's probably still tough. Aerated surroundings, PS .:

FEEDING for hatchlings

usually (already here viewtopic.php?p=2957#p2957)
"The young mostly hatch through the male during the bleeding, as only the female is able to give the young small portions of the possibly large prey pieces in the first few hours after hatching. Therefore, the female goes in search of food during the hatching phase, in order to then carry out the first feedings herself."
(p. 215-216 in Janssen, G., M. Hormann & C. Rohde (2004, 2013): Der Schwarzstorch. Neue BrehmBücherei 468. VerlagsKG
Wolf, Magdeburg)

here we see another situation by hatching and by feedings/feedings attempt too

we saw one bigger fish (M) and now snakes (F) :o

1/ fish, snakes, ... food becomes softer and softer (is pre-digested) and at some point, the chicks will be able to take small bites out of it
2/ with newly hatched chicks, the yolk sac is the source of nutrients for the first 12-24 hours post-hatching
3/ chicks less than one week old should be fed 6-10 times per day (every 2-3 hours)
+
stork hatchlings are able to run around and find the food

on zoomed view it seems like northern brook lampreys
photo: https://education.mdc.mo.gov/sites/defa ... k=5emTtaO0
- they are typically found in the headwaters of streams that are moderately warm and clean

good food source! (and she brought much lampreys :D )
