19.08 Kaia is taking care of the eggs..but it is unusually late already and Karl hasn't returned yet.

Is Kaia going to spend the night in the nest without an incubation shift change?

19.34 Some noises coming from below the nest. A bird or an animal..

22.00 It is now getting dark. Karl won't come today. ( There is nothing unusual about this, but it is unusual for this pair's schedule so far.)

22.10 Kaia suddenly reacts to a threat nearby. Some kind of owl voice was heard just before. It could be that a bigger bird flew by..
EDIT: It is a call of a male Ural Owl ( Strix uralensis) https://xeno-canto.org/641933 ( later comes also a different voice that I don't regognize)

22.11 Kaia settled back on the eggs.

22.12 The owl hooting now come from the other side ( it must have flown past a minute earlier) These are similar sounds to what Karl heard some night ago. Kaia is very alert.

22.16 Kaia stands again, ready to defend the eggs. She stands almost frozen. At a close inspection you see a dark shadow move in the upper right corner of the screen ( a bigger bird on the tree) and a few moments later this shadow mover to the left- the bird flies past again.

The arrows on the image show the starting position of the strange bird and the direction of the movement. The fast moving shadow of this bird is partly captured in the circle.

The bird moved to another nearby tree behind the nest. The sound it makes is the same as Karl heard a few nights ago.

22.22 Kaia sits on the eggs again although the raptor is still nearby, but she has to continue incubation.

22.24 The owls annoy again. Kaia reacts within a millisecond!
Image

22.53 Kaia only now dares to stand up and take care of the eggs, but look how puffed her feathers are. She is trying to make herself as large and intimidating as possible..

But the hooting seems to have stopped by now.

The night passed calmly for Kaia, no other disturbances after the late night owls..

06.04 An animal is screaming somewhere nearby...it could be a fox (?) Kaia listenes, bus she is not scared.
06.05 Again screaming.
