19.42 FEEDING (7) Kaia gives fish to the chicks. Some smaller size, one is quite big. The big fish looks like the crucian carp. ( Did Kaia visit the fish basket??) #3 can't swallow the flat fish, the older one gets it. Then Kaia regurgitates the second time, few lampreys come out. Eventually everyone get a nice meal.

After the feeding, Kaia goes to stand on the curved branch, the chicks are sleeping.

19.58 The chicks wake up and start twittering.
19.59 Kaia leaves. Chicks are alone.
Kaia was in the nest for 46 minutes.

20.02 KARL arrives.
Chicks were alone for 3 minutes.

20.03 FEEDING (8) It's impossible to see how much fish there was because the chicks already grab the food from Karl's mouth. It's clear that all ate.




Karl tries to regurgitate the second time. He looks for a good place and takes a long time. He almost manages, then swallows the food back.




Maybe there's something big, or a lot..that doesn't want to come out

20.51 Karl whistles a few times. Is Kaia somewhere near?


20.52 The chicks also start twittering.

20.57 #3 is working hard to strenghten the nest rim He is very determined to get those little twigs in order.

Karl will spend the night in the nest with the chicks.

I already see small improvements in Kaia's behavior. It all went better as soon as she got fed by Karl- after that she brought fish too- otherwise only rarely. And the aggression stopped!
And I agree that her tolerance for stressful situations is different- she has a fast and strong reaction to the slightest change.

But this is our Kaia- beautiful but very fragile. From inside stronger than we think

Karl spent the night with the chicks.

03.56 Karl is stretching his wings, makes a PS ( rather small) . The chicks are twittering.


The chicks keep twittering as Karl preens them. Karl walks around the nest a few times.
