11.00 KARL arrives. Kaia greets him and leaves.
Kaia was in the nest 4 h 55 min.




Karl is standing on the edge of the nest, he doesn't come closer to the chicks.

11.17 FEEDING (4) Lots of big lampreys from Karl. All chicks eat until they are full.




Chicks are happy and satisfied.

Karl II likes to keep the kids clean and preened He often takes a lot of care of the chicks.

12.46 Karl sees a stranger! He calls.




12.50 The stranger is still around. Karl observes and flies after the stranger!

Chicks are alone.

13.39 Today, the development of the older chicks is becoming more clear. One of them has the new emerging back feathers more prominent. This must be #1 (on the right)

15.37 KARL is back! #3 greets Karl.
Chicks were alone for 2 h 47 min.


15.39 FEEDING (5) I think this time there are the weatherfish from Karl. He regurgitates them by small amounts- a few at a time. The older ones grab the fish very quickly. During the last regurgitation from Karl, the older ones are already full and #3 gets a chance to grab some fish too. I see him swallowing one, but it's possible that he got two fish ( he is between the siblings- hard to see)

Again, Karl spends a lot of time just cleaning and preening the chicks. Also the chicks themselves spend more time preening themselves. Their awake times and active minutes get longer and less sleeping
