Poor Kaia - adult who cannot find enough food for the chicks and also for herself (he does not have enough time between exchanges for both activities?) and that is maybe the reason while we see attempts to brood reductions (she is hungry probably)

I saw an injured female white stork (leg broken), which ate the food that the male brought to the nests for the chicks for a long time (they gradually all died)

I hope very much here it will be happy end

As I understand Urmas has installed a fish basket somewhere on Karl's feeding areas. But Kaia doesn't seem to be using it because she usually doesn't bring fish to the nest.

I really hope she manages to find and use it. For everybody's sake!

Oh, so I didn't know there were fish baskets already. So let's hope Kaia finds it.❤

I don't think so - female and male have usually not the same feeding places - you can see on the food deliveries on all nests

I am very sorry for her and finger crossed very very much for the storklets

Kaia actually found and wanted to use the fish basket last year. She was there with Karl. But Karl didn't let Kaia eat from there, because "it isn't safe"..he chased her away from the basket. Urmas showed photos.

Karl probably remembers the time he was caught by the basket trap..

At least we have this comfort that it's possible to know Karl's feeding places. Extra help at those places also helps.

I also feel very sorry for Kaia. She works hard.
But let's see what next days bring.

05.06 KARL arrives. One chick already growls from far. Kaia gives a nice long greeting, but she is a little hesitant to leave. She takes a few moments before flying out.
Kaia's nest duty was 7 h 53 min.

05.12 FEEDING (1) Karl offers many big lampreys. I can't see if #3 eats anything, he is behind the others. KAIA returns to the nest and also eats two fish!
