A more active time in the afternoon after a long siesta.
Karula National Park (Karl II and Kaia)
Re: Karula National Park (Karl II and Kaia)
20.55 The weather is starting to cool down a little, although the chicks are still clearly hot.
If you look closely at the chick's legs in front, you see that the scaly pattern is already clearly visible. ( I don't know if very small chicks have scaly legs already..I'm guessing that they are more soft ) ( click on the image to view it bigger)

hello dear friends,
if I understood it correctly (LK Forum) should one of the Jan/jannika children be taken to this nest tomorrow, at Tuesday night?
Madli can you confirm that?

Hello Pinki. Yes. There was an article in the newspaper today about this.
https://www.ohtuleht.ee/1065178/tagasi- ... upoegadeks
"If all goes well, then on Tuesday night, rather at night, I would try to take a black storklet to a nest equipped with a webcam. Then we can see what's going on there. There is still a small risk, because if something goes wrong, the whole world can see, but all this needs to be explained, ”says Urmas Sellis, the coordinator of the Estonian Eagle Club.
"As a rule, adult birds do not sleep at the nest," explains Sellis why the chicks are taken to the nest at night. "They are sleeping somewhere near the feeding place so they can start looking for food early in the morning. The other thing is that if you put the chick in the nest in the evening, the other storklets will calm down in the morning and they won't have any problems with each other. "
"The riskiest part is the first meeting of the parents with the stepchild, we don't know how they will react," Sellis describes the biggest fear. "We imagine and hope, and they probably won't even notice that maybe there are four instead of three storklets, but you never know. We can't put ourselves in their heads. "
