The Black Stork nest camera is situated in Pärnu county in Estonia. We have known about this nest only last year (2022), but breeding territory since the 1990s.
2022 season
Nest was found in late breeding season with three chicks in nest, these were ringed.
The male Kergu has been caught in late July, when chicks in nest almost fledged. But Kergu visited nest also after installing a tracker on his back. Kergu left for migration in Aug 12th.

LOCATION

The nest is situated in Pärnu county, SW Estonia.

The location of the nest is affected by a new wind park. (!)

NEST

The current nest was discovered in 2021.
In 2022, 3 chicks were successfully raised in the nest. They were in good condition and all fledged. The chicks were ringed, but didn't receive any transmitters.

RESIDENTS

MALE Kergu himself was ringed as a chick in 2011 by Raivo Endrekson about 9 km away from the current nest location. Kergu's ring nr is 7047.
He was caught and fitted with a transmitter in 2022. This was somewhat a special event because no previously ringed adult had been caught yet.

Great spotted woodpecker (Didysis margasis genys)

There are actually other woodpecker calls heard in the forest.

I have heard (not today) also the Black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) , Gray-headed woodpecker (Picus canus)
Also the Pygmy owl ( Glaucidium passerinum) whisteled so nicely in the early morning
