Hello.

To me it seems that this female is very shy. Or just she doesn't yet know how the courtship display goes.
She has been in the nest for 3 days now and only today I saw that she is starting to warm up and be more affectionate towards Karl. Usually she only stands while Karl lays down or preens himself next to the female but today she also started to preen herself for a longer time and preened Karl's head while he was down.
But Karl is a good teacher for her. Although I don't know how the breeding turns out when the mother is still inexperienced.

Btw- Kaia isn't in a hurry still...she is in Lithuania and probably will spend the night there.

Hi Madli :-),
thx for info about Kaia!

In my opinion you are right. And not only shy - I think, she is still very young. It may be her first season in the adult world. (3 CY?)

Kaia was also assumed to be very young when she first appeared and that year the breeding failed...

Hello everyone :)

The new stork lady seems to me somehow very insecure and undecided about what she wants.
I also suspect that she is young and unexperienced in breeding.

Hello pinki
nice to meet you again :D , welcome in our forum this season!

edit:
new females win over the "older" ones - we have also seen it at black stork nests, e.g. documented and confirmed by prof.PZ
but Kaia is very special stork - we will see

edit
not correct translation - I didn't notice it: some times new females win ....

Thank you marika,
:)
I'm looking forward to being here again and looking forward to the new season. It's just often very confusing when you constantly get contradicting information, from different sources.....
Let's wait and hope for the best for our storks.
I'm happy looking forward to beautiful pictures and exciting videos :))
