The flood plain is located on the edge of Rétköz, north of Tiszadob, on both sides of the Tisza river. The flat landscape was formed as a result of river filling, naturally abandoned beds and meanders (morotvás) cut during the course of bed construction. Only the Fisherman's Island part in the center of the area and the price protection dams stand out from the flat landscape.
To this day, the flood plain preserves the wild, fictional face of the ancient, water-borne world of the Great Plain. The backwaters, hardwood and softwood groves of the 1,030-hectare area, which was declared protected in 1977, offer shelter to the survivors of the once rich wildlife.

#bocianyczarneonline FIGO i FAGO w drodze
Figo wyleciał z Polski 10 sierpnia koło Przemyśla. Kilka dni zabawił niedaleko Lwowa, a następnie poleciał prosto na południe do Rumunii, omijając łuk Karpat od wschodu. Zatrzymał się dopiero we wschodniej Rumunii u zbiegu rzek Seret i Dunaju. Przebywa tam już od miesiąca i na razie nie wznawia wędrówki. W linii prostej znajduje się km od rodzinnego gniazda.
Fago wyleciała z Polski 16 sierpnia przelatując nad Nowym Targiem, Białką Tatrzańską i Jurgowem, a następnie wleciała pomiędzy Tatry a Magurą Spiską. Przeleciała nad Karpatami zostawiając Gerlach (2655 m n.p.m.) po swojej prawej stronie w odległości 16 km. Jeszcze tego samego dnia doleciała aż na Węgry i zanocowała nad rzeką Hornad.
Później przeniosła się dalej na południe nad Cisę i od miesiąca przemieszcza się na niewielkie odległości wzdłuż szerokiej doliny Cisy na Wielkiej Nizinie Węgierskiej. Do rodzinnego gniazda ma w linii prostej zaledwie km.
Wygląda więc na to, że nie spieszą się z kontynuacją podróży.
Dla porównania mapka pokazuje jeszcze trasę (kolor czerwony) innego młodego bociana czarnego - z nadleśnictwa Kutno. Bocian ten wyleciał z Polski przelatując 20 sierpnia nad Beskidem Niskim i jako pierwszy z naszych młodych bocianów już 7 września wleciał do Azji przelatując na zachodnią częścią morza Marmara. Pokonał już prawie całą Turcję. Nad górami Taurus na południu Turcji przeleciał na wysokości 3200 m n.p.m. Do rodzinnego gniazda ma w linii prostej km.
To porównanie tras trzech młodych bocianów czarnych pokazuje jak bardzo mogą się różnić ich wędrówki pod kątem wybranego wariantu trasy i szybkości przelotu.

(22 września) Figo w Rumunii nad Dunajem nadal zbiera siły na dalszą wędrówkę, a Fago już opuściła gościnną węgierską pusztę, przeleciała przez Rumunię i zatrzymała się dopiero na Nizinie Trackiej w Bułgarii.
Wędrowiec z Nadleśnictwa Kutno
Bocian z Nadleśnictwa Kutno września wleciał z Europy do Azji. Początkowy obraz, który widzimy w środkowej części kadru to długi łańcuch Karpat przechodzący na Półwyspie Bałkańskim w Starą Płaninę. Bocian tego dnia wystartował z okolic Burgas w Bułgarii, a następnie leciał nad europejską częścią Turcji prosto w kierunku najszerszej części morza Marmara🏝. Morze Marmara ma tam pokaźną szerokość 75 km, dlatego przed morzem Marmara bocian skręcił na wschód i poleciał nad lądem kilka kilometrów od północnego brzegu morza Marmara. Wtedy na trasie przelotu pojawił się Stambuł – ogromna turecka metropolia z 16 milionami mieszkańców. Bocian szybko znalazł się nad czynnym, lotniskiem Stambuł-Ataturk. Namierzył się dokładnie nad lotniskiem na wysokości 1071 m, ale na szczęście kolizji z samolotem nie było. Bocian mógł polecieć dalej na północ i przelecieć nad cieśniną Bosfor w najwęższym miejscu (700 m) lub trzymać się morza Marmara utrzymując kierunek lotu na wschód. A stork from the Kutno Forest District flew from Europe to Asia on September 1–. The initial image we see in the center of the frame is a long chain of the Carpathians crossing the Balkan Peninsula into Stara Planina. The stork that day took off from the area of ​​Burgas in Bulgaria, and then flew over the European part of Turkey straight towards the widest part of the Marmara🏝 sea. There, the Sea of ​​Marmara is 75 km wide, so in front of the Sea of ​​Marmara the stork turned east and flew overland a few kilometers from the northern shore of the Sea of ​​Marmara.
