birdmap info:
Juvenile stork from Pärnu county, western Estonia.
Two of the three chicks fledged and one of them can be tracked using a transmitter. We used a leg mounted transmitter that we received from our former Black Stork juvenile (Tuul) who perished last year.
In this nest, we did not succeed in additional feeding, because the adult birds did not get to the fish ponds. However, the chicks were underweight both during ringing and during the installation of Madi's transmitter. Twice we managed to bring fish to the nest. The first time was during the installation of the transmitter on August 1st, and the second time a week ago Madis went there and threw two kilos of herring from the ground into the nest (one at a time and in the dark). Finally he succeed and most probably those were eaten by two juveniles.
Madi started migration in August 28th. We do not know about sibling in nest.
Male stork in that pair uses western migration route, what is an exception for Baltic population.
