(GT without correction till now)
34 individuals, of which 7 juveniles
7 ringed, 1 extra with tracking device on leg.
Rings read: 6684 (with GPS), 6557, 67HA, 68LM, 6400, 6879.
One individual had either an old or a foreign ring as it was small print and illegible.
When I arrived at the pond, I saw the first individual and after a while a flock of about 24 storks. The first group of 11 storks sat on the pines on the west side of the Ostrov pond only after 20 minutes of circling. Neither was circled. Others were still circling in the air. After another 20 minutes, the first ones started to sit on the field (marked place on the map) and gradually around 20 pegs sat there, including the ones from the tree. More continued to arrive over the next 30 minutes. They then gradually flew over to the Vulsík pond to hunt.
Fortunately, something scared them at the pond and they all sat down in their original place and it was possible to count them.
Points of Interest:
- they held groups of 4-8 during mass high circling;
- everyone chose exactly the same flight path from the field to the pond - to the far side of the dam, along the trees and over the dam;
- one of the storks in the field sat down on the ground, for 3-4 minutes;
- part of the storks stood on the embankment as if watching over the others;
- they didn't mind a moped driving along a dirt road 200 meters from them, but a barking dog from the village scared them off.
According to the fishermen, they were in the exact same place in the field the previous days as well.
