BS from the nest of ŁODZ (from 01.01.2022)

Post by marika.solo »

FREZIJA, juvenile (1CY), hatched 2021 (streamed nest Bociany czarne online)

The stork parents Florentino and Fermina II brought out three young storks (FLOREK, FREZJA a FELEK). They were all equipped with a transmitter. Siblings started their first migration: Frezja and Felek on August 7, 2021 and Florek on August 14, 2021.
Unfortunately Felek perished in Romania (predation).
Florek sent last data on 12.10.2021 (viewtopic.php?p=329#p329)

(FB - GT translation)
Meanwhile, Frezija's logger regularly sends information about its location😍🧐. Frezija is wintering on a savanna between Lake Tana and the northern border of Ethiopia. Still no update from Florek.

and information about migration of the juvenile BS 8335 - ZŁOCZEW
(more morning)
EDIT: When I get back, I'll complete this update most probably on 14 or 15.02 - I'm leaving now

JUVENILE BLACK STORK 8335 (hatched 2021 in Złoczew Forest District State Forests RDLP in Łódź)
unfortunately stork perished in Kenya :(

FB news https://www.facebook.com/LasyPanstwoweL ... %2CO%2CP-R (GT - corrections in the evening)

🎬 Dangerous migrations of black storks from the forests of RDSF in Łódź
Our black storks winter in a wide belt south of the Sahara desert. This belt is 1,000 to 1,500 km wide and is wider in East Africa. Some of the young storks, such as our Frezija💚, stopped to rest⛱ immediately after crossing the Sahara, others flew on ...
👉One stork from the Złoczew State Forests Forest Inspectorate of 2021 (loger 8335) from the nest flew straight to the north. First, he spent a few days near Gniezno, and then went towards the Polish-Ukrainian border. On the way he spent the night on the San near Rudnik on the San and left Poland to Ukraine after Przemyśl. He only stayed there for a few hours. He returned to Poland near Lutowiska and flew across the Bieszczady Mountains. So on the same day (August 12, 2021) he left Poland, came back and left it again. He flew over Krzemieniec, i.e. he saw the border tripoint (Poland / Slovakia / Ukraine) in advance and spent the night in Slovakia🤓.
He made a longer stop (37 days❗️) on the Tisza River on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The further route was standard - through the Sea of Marmara, Turkey and the Middle East to Africa. After five days of flying through the Sahara desert, he reached northern Ethiopia, where Frezija is currently wintering from its nest on the oak tree. But he didn't stop there, but took a roundabout route to Somalia and from Somalia to central Kenya. There he was feeding in irrigation canals in agricultural areas, but unfortunately something happened and the logger of our stork from the Złoczew Forest District has been inactive since October 22, 2021😢. This stork travelled 8288 km🖤 from the exit from the nest. He ended his African adventure 32 km from the eastern shore of Lake Victoria. It is the southernmost wintering place of our storks ...

JUVENILE BLACK STORK 8335 - continuation

... So on the same day (August 12, 2021) he left Poland, came back and left it again. He flew over Krzemieniec, i.e. he saw the border tripoint (Poland / Slovakia / Ukraine) in advance and spent the night in Slovakia🤓. ...

wider view on that area (Krzemieniec/Кременець/Kremenec)

On September 6, 2000, a new border state emblem was installed on the Kremenec border hill at an altitude of 1209.94 m. The three-meter granite monolith, which should last for the next 50 years, was exported to the easternmost point of Slovakia, a squadron of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. March 10
Hello everyone :-)

juvenile black storks with transmitter from the RDLP Łodz - their wintering area in Africa
FB news (10.03.2022) https://www.facebook.com/LasyPanstwoweL ... 4206081153

🎬Where are our black storks getting winter? (corrections later)

Young black storks from the RDLP Łódz have not yet moved north from their winter positions in Africa 👉south of the Sahara☀️. They will do this much later than adult birds.
The updated list of countries in which our storks are wintering for 2020 and 2021 is as follows:
👌Chad, 👌Central African Republic, 👌Sudan, 👌South Sudan, 👌Democratic Republic of Congo, 👌Eritrea, 👌 Ethiopia (Frezja is wintering on the border of Ethiopia and Eritrea), 👌 Kenya.
The country with our storks the most deported to the north is Eritrea, and to the south is Kenya 🕵️♂️.

Interesting that all the birds flew into the wintery fields in October. The average date for the appearance of young black storks in winter fields, after defeating the Sahara is October 14 🧐. All birds have stopped in areas with small rivers or irrigation channels where they can feed in shallow water (map shows the activity of a young black stork from Nadleśnictwo Kutno, Lasy Państwowe March 4, 2022 in the agricultural territory of Ethiopia). No bird was tempted to stay longer on the large rivers. 🤔

We still have no new positions of stork from the online nest 😪. FLOREK submitted the last data on October 3, 2021 from Egypt 🧭, and FREZJA 5.02.2022 from Ethiopia 🗺. But Frezja should soon be heading north and then it will fly into the zone with a cell phone range, which we are counting on. Keep your fingers crossed! 💚
