I received a very sad message:

"Pikne has perished in Turkey, in the Nevşehir area. It happened last night or yesterday evening."

I am very, very sad
I was so much happy after his/her silent winter time there and now that ...
I am speechless

(maybe some kind of predator - feral dogs?)

to the west from the village Ayhanlar/Büyükayhan/Küçükayhan in the Avanos district of Nevşehir Province, Turkey

Pikne don't cross the the Gulf of Alexandretta or İskenderun ( (Turkish: İskenderun Körfezi) , our juvenile stork continued to migrate bypassing the mountains and continued to the central part of the Anatolian Plateu.

Pikne "visited" the Ayhanlar dam area and continued to the mountains area. As I wrote before the most likely cause of death seems to be a collision with power lines.

Ayhanlar Dam is a dam built between 1996 and 2000 for irrigation purposes on Kızılöz Stream in Nevşehir.
The body volume of the dam, which is an earth body fill type, is 1.200.000 m³, its height from the river bed is 44.00 m, the lake volume at normal water level is 21.87 hm³, and the lake area at normal water level is 2.02 km².
