POLAND: BS from the nest of ŁODZ (from 01.01.2022)

Post by marika.solo »

we follow here storklet FLOREK and FREZJA (hatched 2021) from the streamed nest in Łódź, respectively all from the streamed nest
(and we share infos about the other BS equipped with transmitter from the RDLP (Regional Directorate of State Forests) in Łodz

previous infos
viewtopic.php?p=1040#p1040 (10.02.2022)
Meanwhile, FREZIJA's logger regularly sends information about its location. Frezija winters in the savannah between Lake Tana and the northern border of Ethiopia. There is still no new information from FLOREK.

viewtopic.php?p=1162#p1162 (10.03.2022)
FLOREK submitted the last data on October 3, 2021 from Egypt, and FREZJA on 05.02.2022 from Ethiopia. But Frezja should soon be heading north and then it will fly into the zone with a cell phone range, which we are counting on.

prof. Piotr Zieliński on 20.07.2022
FREZJA died in May 2022, and FLOREK, unfortunately, did not fly through the Sahara

I am very sorry for both young stork, especially for Frezja :(

- every day info about moving the young storks with transmitter (hatched in the are of the Łodz forest directorate) you can read in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=38

With FREZJA is a difficult matter in sofar as Frezja called back from Ethiopia in the spring of 2022, but even before heading north. That is, the Sahara was in front of her, but she had already crossed it once in the fall of 2021, so here I bet on transmitter trouble.

prof. PZ (29.07.2022)
FREZJA defeated the Sahara in the fall of 2021 and she succeeded - condition very good, gained experience. In the spring of 2022 it should be similar, because: she has already shown that she can do it, she has gained experience. Therefore, I rather bet on the failure of the transmitter - she did not send data after crossing Sahara.

Frezja winters between Lake Tana in Ethiopia and the River Gash in Eritrea. Currently, stork stops on the small Soroca River that flows through the savannas of northern Ethiopia, 50 km from Sudan's eastern border.

#bocianyczarneonline 🎬 Waiting for ... CAMERA, ACTIONAA!

We know that the first black ones are occupying the nests🖤 The news from us is that the nest (Dąb2) has survived the winter and is in good condition💪. The camera is working. The storks haven't arrived yet. We are waiting patiently😇.

FOR THIS, THE SECOND MESSAGE INTERESTS EVERYONE WHO HAVE BEEN WITH US LONGER🧐

👉We have to go back to 2018 to the Dąb1 nest. There were 4 chicks in our nest then. Loger received LODKA (formerly known as Blackhead). Lodka was the last chick who leave the nest on August 18, 2018 and immediately heading south. She spent the night near Stary Sącz and on August 19, 2018 flew out of Poland through the Poprad valley through Beskid Sądecki, between the Radziejowa and Jaworzyna ranges.
She ended her autumn journey in Bulgaria⛱, where she stayed until the end of March 2019. She flew to the north from Bulgaria at the beginning of April 2019 and only stopped in Hungary. In mid-May 2019, she moved to western Romania. Lodka's loger was working normally, but on June 20, 2019 she stopped sending signals😪. We didn't know if it was just a logger failure or something happened to the stork ...
It was worth not giving up hope. Yesterday (March 14, 2022) we received an unexpected message from Hungary that on March 11, 2022, the ring number (193L) of a black stork feeding on fish ponds west of Debrecen was read. It was our Lodka! So she is alive and doing very well💚. In June 2019, it was just a logger failure. Now Lodka is travelling north. She is almost 4 years old and it is possible that she already has her own new nest.

Hi Justyna,
it is one exeptionaly good news :D .
Thank you very, very much - it is so good to know that our Lodka is still alive :D .
And it give us a little hope for all other storks whose transmitter don't send any more data.
