The female of the black stork equipped with a GPS-GSM logger as part of the Storks in Forest project (Forest Experimental Station of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Rogów vs the Eagle Conservation Committee) returned yesterday to the vicinity of the nest. She searched for food and slept 7 km further on the Szarka River. Today she sat on the nest for the first time.
She covered the route from the wintering area in Greece on the Struma River
in 7 days without any stops. She flew
1510 km.
She stayed at the wintering site for 172 days in the company of 18 other storks, of which at least 2 were also storks from Poland (the rings were read). Skierka knows at least 2 other nests within a radius of 40 km. We hope male Tytan will arrive soon and we will be able to admire this pair throughout the season
