Yeşildere is situated at the south Toros Mountains along the valley of İbrala rivulet. The former name of the town was İbrala.
The dam is built on the İbrala Stream in Karaman between 1998 and 2004 for irrigation purposes.

Nahal Ashosh Nature Reserve offers expanses of pristine, virgin desert and a place to 'get lost' among canyons, wadis, and towering peaks.

Nahal Ashosh Nature Reserve is a vast desert reserve. The high peaks in the west of the reserve rise to around 500 metres above sea level. Thanks to its wide-open spaces and marked scenic routes, it is a paradise for off-road vehicle trips, but hiking enthusiasts will also find plenty of interest along the reserve's trails. Its beauty is pure, also because it contains very little infrastructure, which is concentrated near the settlements on its edges.
