KERLI - adult female, Pärnu County

Post by marika.solo »

IN PREPARATION

Spring Birdmap: data starts from 15 February (autumn birdmap until 14 February). Publication may follow 1–2 weeks later. Storks appear only after reaching GSM coverage during a data session.

Following the spring migration of KERLI:
  • Gender: Adult female (maybe 5 - 6CY)
  • Territory: Caught in Pärnu County, Nesting 2025: streamed nest in Pärnu County, mate: Kergu
  • We are following Kerli's 2nd spring migration with transmitter (tagged on 17.07.2024)

Ringing data:
I have both ornithological and colour ring numbers, but I’ve been asked to handle them with caution, as they can sometimes be misused in false reports.
If you see a stork with a ring in the wild, on a webcam, or in the media, please contact me by Private Message.

KERLI / KERLI

our Madli (the godmother):
Kerli is a nice Estonian woman's name.
The name Kerli means "light" or "gentle." It is a shortened form of name from the name Kertu, which in turn comes from the name Gertrud, which means "protection" or "strongness." Kerli is a lovely and elegant name associated with being gentle and light. https://www.name-days.com/now/name/et_ee/ee/kerli
This name matches perfectly with our Kerli's personality and it matches nicely with Kergu.

birdmap description (2024)
A young female Black Stork, which was caught in Pärnumaa County, as part of the Black Stork survey of the Tootsi-Sop wind farm. Survey was ordered by Enefit Green company. It is possible that the same individual visited the black stork Kergu's nest (there is a web camera in the nest) before the capture and installation of the transmitter.
Kerli started its first tracked autumn migration on 2024 July 21.
