The eggs are removed and transferred to an incubator because Sol and Sombra are not very successful at natural incubation. After laying, the storks are given artificial eggs to sit on. Once the real eggs hatch, the chicks are placed back in the nest. They are always accepted, and this method usually works well. However, it seems this trick didn't work for them this year.
