The life of the youngest storklet has come to an end. There was a 4-day age difference between him and the oldest sibling. In the stork world, one day of life is metaphorically like 3 months for a human child, making his handicap very big from the start.

For the first four days, the small storklet showed an amazing will to live and actively fought for food. However, the adult birds mostly brought frogs that were too big for him to swallow. Due to the lack of energy, cold rainy weather, and a 4-day growth gap, the little one became completely apathetic this morning.

Meija evaluated the situation and eliminated the already very weakened chick to protect the rest of the nest. This is a natural law (brood reduction) that ensures the survival of the remaining three stronger storklets.

Fingers crossed very much for the remaining storklets! (especially for the third little one)
