Hello everyone :-)

CHICKS 🐥
- 1st chick: 16 days old (hatched on 14.06)

EGGS
🥚🥚unhatched (laid on 13.05 at 22:22 and 16.05 at 02:05)

Stork chicks grow exponentially. 90 days in the nest is like 18-21 years for humans. This means that 1 day in the nest is like almost 3 months for a human child. That is why their transformation is so amazing and fast.

Summary of Nest Concerns and the Biological Argument (Estonian Nest)

Viewer Concerns: Some viewers expressed anxiety and sadness over the chick being left alone for long periods, calling it "abandoned" and worrying that the parents have behavioral quirks or are "torturing" the chick by not feeding it enough.

The Anthropomorphic Counter-Argument: Experienced observers correctly pointed out that humans should not judge wild birds using human logic or emotions. It is currently very hot and food is difficult to find. The parents know exactly what they are doing and why. Their behavior is driven by natural survival instincts, and they are doing the absolute best they can under the circumstances.

last info

9:46 PM @hommik72
Mida võiski arvata, et Kerlit pole. Hea, et Kergu õhtu ruttu koju tuli, mitte nagu eile. Neil oleks justkui tagavara pesa...
(Who would have thought that Kerli wasn't there? It's good that Kergu came home early in the evening, not like yesterday. It's like they have a spare nest...)
9:57 PM @ruthveske9405
22.55 ajas tibu üles, hakkas teda näkitsema.
(At 10:55 p.m., the chick woke up and started nibbling on him.)
10:40 PM@ruthveske9405S
ajab vihma. (It is raining.)
10:47 PM @hommik72
Tibul jäi jälle õhtusöök ära🤔 (The chick missed dinner again)

Nest Activity Log 01/07/2026

Before 03:00 – It started to rain. The male parent (Kergu) provided cover for the chick, acting as an "umbrella" and keeping the small, 17-day-old chick sheltered under his plumage.
04:32:07 – A funny moment where the standing bird had a very relatable, sleepy morning reaction after waking up too early.
06:37 – The chick woke up hungry and began begging for food.

08:19 – Kergu left the nest.
08:21 – Kergu returned to the nest and attempted to feed the chick, but he brought no food.
08:25 – Kergu left the nest again.
08:28 – Kergu returned, bringing a large branch to improve the nest structure.
08:41 – It continued to rain. The chick was temporarily left uncovered in the nest, prompting concern from viewers due to its small size and vulnerability.

11:19 – The female parent (Kerli) arrived at the nest after the chick had been left alone for approximately 2 hours. She immediately fed the chick.

12:25 – Kergu arrived back at the nest and delivered a feeding. Simultaneously, Kerli left the nest.

16:36 – A feeding took place consisting of fish (likely sourced from the nearby artificial fish basket).

16:58 – Kergu flew away from the nest, leaving the chick alone.

19:01 – 19:10 – The chick remained alone in the nest. Viewers noted that despite being alone, the chick seemed calm and well-fed compared to the previous day when food was scarce.

21:20 – Kergu returned to the nest after an absence of more than 4 hours.
21:40 – The chick was observed begging Kergu for food.
