The spring/summer migration stops in mid-August and the autumn/winter migration continues from the following day, the 15th = the bird map is set for autumn/winter migration and the new distance measurement starts from 15.08. However, the birdmap is sometimes ready a week or two later.
in this thread we follow JANIS (hatched 2018) adult bird from Latvia (we follow Jani's 1st autumn-winter migration with trasmitter)
JANIS colour ring number: - 8 CY
(CY = calendar year; birds are aged as the number of calendar years they have lived in, with the year they were born in as the 1st calendar year and increasing past every January 1st.)

birdmap-description:
Adult Black Stork, ringed 2018 as nestling in Latvia by Maris Strazds about 110km SW of trapping place. Caught at a migration stopover (probably) in August 24 near the Latvian border.
We do not know, where is Janis' breeding territory. At the trapping time, up to 13 Black Storks were stopping in the same area, but Janis stayed there for a surprisingly long time. Autumn migration continued in September 17.
The name was suggested by a local landowner and ranger, who participated in the release of the Black Stork that had been fit with tracker. The catch took place in a cattle pen, where the cattle watched our activities. The trapping was prepared by Taavi Tatsi and Jaanus Tanilsoo.
