Black stork nests in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (Poland)

Other nests:

• No birds in 8 locations.

• Szkucin: no birds but we've found one dead chick under the nest

• Łubnice II: we've seen one ringed adult on the nest but no chicks

• Wola Chroberska: 1 pull. but too young for ringing (a control made 2 weeks later showed no movement on the nest - probably the chick died)

• Sielec: 2 pull.

• Mościska: 2 pull.

• Holendry: 4 pull.

• Kaczka: 4 pull.

All ringed chicks were in good condition

What more can I said? Almost all of locations were dry. When getting to the nest trees, we didn't need to wear Wellington boots any time!
Was the lack of water the reason of those losses? Or was it a predation? Maybe further analysis will tell us more.

One looks certain: this year seems to be bad for black storks...

As Mr. Anderwald wrote already - it is not the best year for the black storks unfortunately.

The question is if it's just a part of fluctuation or a beginning of a tendency...

Yes, we know - it hatched in Rzemienowice and has been tagged on 9th July 2019 by Krzysztof Dudzik.
This logger had been on another bird earlier, but it died.
