NEST

This site is located in the Bolewice Forest District in the Pszczewskie Lakes and Obra Valley Natura 2000 Area. It was rebuilt by members of the Eagle Protection Committee on March 14, 2023. Previously, for two years, only single birds appeared there. The camera was placed at the nest located on a single old sessile oak tree before the arrival of the storks in mid-March 2023. Skierka started breeding with Królewicz.

a seven year old female (7 CY/hatched 2017) who comes from the Skierniewice Forest District in the Bolimów Forest (Puszcza Bolimowska). There she was ringed and even had a GPS transmitter on. (Previous years we follow her with the "name" BOCZ 07 ŻÓŁTY - Yellow, because she has yellow transmitter.) The female joined her first successful brood in the Wolsztyn Forest District, i.e. about 300 kilometers to the east from her place of origin.

Ze Skierka wszystko ok, ale jest jeszcze w Grecji. Nie wiem dlaczego nie rusza. Moę dlatego ze zrobiły się tam ostatnio bardzo zimne noce nawet poniżej zera.

Witam wszystkich w nowym sezonie
Dziś mała niespodzianka, do gniazda zawitał Królewicz.
Królewiczu, dobrze Cię widzieć! ❤
Na czacie była również informacja od Dariusza Anderwald, że dziś Skierka jest na południu Węgier.

21 marca! Lepszej daty powrotu na gniazdo Królewicz nie mógł sobie wybrać! Skierka też już tu gna i wczoraj była w N Serbii. To niezwykłe miejsce w Nadleśnictwie Bolewice, które jest prawdziwą jest krainą bocianów czarnych. Niedawno leśnicy odkryli kolejne (trzecie) gniazdo tego gatunku, tym razem na sośnie. Królewicz powrócił do gniazda po 233 dniach nieobecności. W przeciwieństwie do samicy Skierki, ten osobnik nie ma loggera, więc nie wiemy, gdzie zimuje. Jednak najwięcej polskich bocianów czarnych zimę spędza w Sudanie i Etiopii. Jedynie około 10% leci szlakiem zachodnim i przybywa do nas z np. Gambii. W Afryce bociany czarne spędzają około 140-180 dni. Pozostały okres to czas migracji. Najdłużej lecą jesienią, natomiast wiosną o wiele szybciej, ponieważ spieszą się wtedy do swoich gniazd.

The prince returned to the nest after 233 days of absence. Unlike the female Skierka, this individual does not have a logger, so we do not know where it winters. However, most Polish black storks spend the winter in Sudan and Ethiopia. Only about 10% fly the western route and come to us from, for example, Gambia. In Africa, black storks spend about 140-180 days. The remaining period is the migration period. They fly the longest in autumn, while in spring they fly much faster, because they rush to the nests then.
