change - update

FB Ornitostogos: lizdų transliacijos https://www.facebook.com/groups/9744478 ... 160349274/

Today we are presenting our third live feed of the year - straight from the BLACK STORCH'S nest in a tall oak tree.
Remember, last year we were watching a pair of black storks, only then they failed to transition. Plans were mixed up by domestic owls living in the neighbourhood. These ones attacked their long-legged neighbours several times, until the storks finally gave up and abandoned the nest.
This year we decided to fit a surveillance camera to another black stork nest. Seems like it's all right this time. The first stork in the nest appeared before the gandrines, later another member of the pair returned and now both are cleaning up their homes after winter, the pavement is covered with moss and is slowly preparing to move.
This nest in Kaišiadorys district was found by ornithologists of Kaunas Tadas Ivanauskas Zoology Museum back in 2000. Later the nest fell off, but storks still visited the former nesting site constantly, so in 2017, the museum's ornithologists in cooperation with foresters installed an artificial nest that had fallen out. Next year the birds have occupied this nest and are still in it.
Let's wish them a successful breeding season!
