we have camera description today already, but the transmission is not working (for me)
Juodasis gandras (lot. Ciconia nigra). Pernai stebėjome juodųjų gandrų porą, kuriai perėjimas nepasisekė. Planus sumaišė kaimynystėje įsikūriusios naminės pelėdos, kurios kelis kartus atakavo ilgakojus kaimynus, kol gandrai galiausiai neapsikentė ir lizdą apleido. Šiemet kamerą pritaisėme prie Kaišiadorių rajone esančio kito lizdo, kurį Kauno Tado Ivanausko zoologijos muziejaus ornitologai surado dar 2000 metais. Juodieji gandrai – reti Lietuvos paukščiai, tikri slapukai, mėgstantys senus brandžius miškus.
Black stork (lat. Ciconia nigra). Last year we observed a pair of black storks their nesting failed. Their plans were disrupted by the barn owls that settled in the neighbourhood, which attacked the long-legged neighbours several times, until the storks finally got fed up and abandoned the nest. This year we attached the camera to another nest in the Kaišiadorys district, which ornithologists from the Kaunas Tadas Ivanauskas Zoological Museum found back in 2000. Black storks are rare Lithuanian birds, real darlings that love old, mature forests.
The female noticed a danger, she stand up and started calling for a short while. Settled again down and she widely covered the nest. No one was visible - only calling in the distant. Then (almost immediately) her own and the stranger flew to the nest - almost at the same time! Both stork defend the nest and the eggs.
