The Csaj Lake, bordered by Baks, Csanytelek and Tömörkény in the Pusztaszer Landscape Protection Area, was originally a saline lake of more than 300 hectares. From this and from the riverbed of the Dong-ér joined it, the Tömörkény Fishponds were formed between 1964 and 1971.
Lakes 4 and 8 were abandoned in the mid-1990s on the fully Natura 2000 fish pond system. The almost 190 hectares of the two lake units were state-owned in 1998 and were transferred to the asset management of the Kiskunság National Park Directorate (KNPI). In 2018, almost the entire fish pond system was purchased by 1995. Based on its obligation under Act XCIII of the Annual Law, KNPI from the Constitution of Solids After the full ownership, this opened the possibility for ecological-oriented lake management and the nature conservation-based management of the lake system in 2021.
