the autumn birdmap starts with data from August 15
The spring/summer migration stops in mid-August and the autumn/winter migration continues from the following day, the 15th = the bird map is set for autumn/winter migration and the new distance measurement starts from 15.08. However, the birdmap is sometimes ready a week or two later.
in this thread we follow KERLI from the streamed nest in Pärnu - Kergu's nest (we follow Kerli's 1st autumn-winter migration with transmitter)

(CY = calendar year; birds are aged as the number of calendar years they have lived in, with the year they were born in as the 1st calendar year and increasing past every January 1st.)
Madli (the godmother): Kerli is a nice Estonian woman's name.
The name Kerli means "light" or "gentle." It is a shortened form of name from the name Kertu, which in turn comes from the name Gertrud, which means "protection" or "strongness." A young female Black Stork, which was caught in Pärnumaa County, as part of the Black Stork survey of the Tootsi-Sop wind farm. Survey was ordered by Enefit Green company. It is possible that the same individual visited the black stork Kergu's nest (there is a web camera in the nest) before the capture and installation of the transmitter.

As we know, Kergu had a female friend for quite long time. She stopped visiting Kergu's nest now and there is a good reason for that.
On the afternoon of 17.July, Urmas was able to catch this young female about 3 km from Kergu's nest feeding on a fish basket. Trail camera detected that she had been using this feeding area several times previously.
This young stork was given a plastic ring 719R and also a transmitter. I was in contact with Raivo the whole time and I was given the opportunity to name this lovely lady. So from now on we can call her KERLI
There were some difficulties with releasing her after contact, which unfortunately caused more stress in her. There was a sudden rainfall and Kerli had to be held for a longer period than expected before the installation of her equipment. But luckily it all ended well and she took off.

After release she flew further to the north and spent few days there. She returned to the area and was about 500 m away from Kergu's nest for some time.
Today I received news from Raivo that Kerli has started her migration and was in Latvia yesterday.
